Toyota Etios Liva vs Toyota Etios Cross – Autoportal India Compare the Cars

In the Indian automobile market small cars have more demand. The Toyota Kirloskar Motors Private Limited has two stylish small cars in their Indian portfolio; the Etios Liva and the Etios cross. The hatchback Etios Liva on the lines of the sedan Etios has been launched in 2011 and refreshed in 2013. During the 2014 Indian auto expo the TKMPL has unveiled a crossover developed out of the sedan Etios and launched the Etios Cross in May 2014.

The Toyota Etios Liva comes in 5 petrol and 5 diesel variants priced Rupees 5.0 to 7.21 lakh. The Etios Cross comes in 2 petrol and 2 diesel variants priced Rupees 6.23 to 7.72 lakh. There are no automatic transmission variants for both the cars. The Liva comes in colours of symphony silver, serene bluish silver, celestial black, harmony beige, vermillion red, white and pearl white. The Cross comes in colours of ultramarine blue, celestial black, classic grey, vermilion red, symphony silver, harmony beige, white and inferno red.

The Liva and Cross are built on the Etios platform. The external features of the Liva include high intensity head and turn lights, some characteristic lines on the bonnet, spoke alloy wheels, fin shaped tail lamps and electrical body coloured ORVMs with blinkers. Additional features of a utility vehicle can be seen on the Cross like the silver bull bar, black cladding on all the sides with silver skirting and the skid plates, large fog lamps, a rear spoiler and roof rails.

Similar cabins of both the Liva and Cross have standard features like 2 airbags at the front, a manual AC, child lock facility, fabric seats and internally adjustable body coloured ORVMs. There are no air bags for the base trims of the Cross. The top variants of the Liva has steering mounted audio controls, ABS, EBD, electric ORVMs with blinkers and a 2 Din music system with Bluetooth for telephony. The electric ORVMs are missing for the Cross.

Toyota Etios Cross

The Etios Liva and Cross are powered by 1197 cc, 79 bhp and 104 NM torque petrol engines giving mileages of 17.71 kmpl and 1364 cc, 67 bhp and 170 NM torque diesel engines giving mileages of 23.59 kmpl. The Liva Sportivo petrol gives mileages of 16.78 with a 1.5 litre engine.

The Liva is 3775 mm long except the Sportivo variant which is 4265 mm long and the Cross 3895 mm. The Cross has a better ground clearance of 174 mm than the 170 mm of the Cross.  The Sportivo has a boot of 595 litres and all others 251 litres.

The Etios Cross can be used for the daily city travel and also for long tours.
